FS-088 Experience the Arctic Trail
This tour features the scenery and settlement of Northeast Iceland, often heralded in our literature of the past and present.
You will visit the largest national park in Europe, Ásbyrgi, with its spectacular waterfall of Dettifoss and learn about the unique geology of Jökulsárgljúfur canyon.
You will also have the opportunity to get a close view of such phenomena as pseudocraters, lava formations and bubbling sulfur pits.
You may even get a glimpse of whales, seals, bird cliffs, a stray arctic fox and some of the largest concentrations of breeding ducks in Iceland.
You may even hear tall tales and folklore inspired in part by the challenges Icelanders have faced through the ages in their struggle for survival.
This excursion first follows the northeast coastline in the direction of the Arctic Circle and then proceeds towards the highlands.
