FS-110 Herðubreið

Herðubreið is for sure one of best known and promoted mountain in Iceland.

It was elected as the national mountain, and often called “queen of the Icelandic mountains”. It was formed in an eruption under a glacier. The top of the mountain is in 1.682 meters over sea level.

We start the tour from Mývatn, in a comfort super jeep or 4x4 truck and head directly to Herðubreiðarlindir, where we take a short stop. Then we continue and drive almost the circle around the mountain to the spot we start to climb.

In bad condition (snow) we might need to walk a bit before we can start the climb. This might also make the walk up more challenging.
